Let’s be real, there are a lot of Travel Hacks out there, but are they really worth the time and effort? Do they really save you time or money? In addition to time and money, we’re also going to post hacks and products that improve travel safety.
Any products mentioned are NOT part of a sponsorship. They are items that I have personally used to help me on my travels and I hope they help you, too.
This water bottle has a filter in it that gives you peace of mind when you’re hiking or in a foreign country where sometimes the water sources aren’t the best. It can save you a lot of money, too. Even in places where the fountains said the water was potable, I still got sick from it until I started using this water bottle. I’ve used it in the U.S. on hikes and drank from rivers and water falls before, too. It is 99.9999% effective. https://www.lifestraw.com/products/lifestraw-go?variant=5355310415904If you are going hiking for an extended period of time or just exploring a city by foot, I extremely recommend packing some compeeds. They saved my feet during Spain and I’ve also used them on long hikes in the U.S. They’re great because if you aren’t able to change your socks very often, they offer that extra layer of protection. You can find them at pharmacy stores and online. https://www.compeedusa.com/If you’re going to walk the Camino de Santiago or any highly walked trail, I highly suggest getting a trail map guide book. When I wasn’t able to use my GPS I could literally see the landmarks on the maps in these books. It was really cool and fun to use this “old technology.” I also loved reading about the upcoming towns each night so I could learn more about the local culture and food. https://www.amazon.com/Camino-Santiago-Maps-Compostela-Guides/dp/1912216035If you’ve ever wanted to travel abroad you need a passport. It is also a handy document that makes it easier to provide identification when getting a job. Make sure you apply at least six months in advance of your travel plans so you have ample time to get it. Also, if you get married and change your name you’ll have to change your name on your driver’s license and your passport or the TSA won’t let you on the plane. Your names have to match in both places. I also got a passport book case so that it’s easier for me to find in my bag and if I drop it (like i did one time in Spain) it’s easy to describe what I am looking for. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports.htmlYou can find more information here: https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/allGiving your itinerary to someone back home is a good idea, too. Especially when cell signal isn’t the best. Safety is important when traveling! They’re really good quality multi-tools that will be with you for the rest of your life. Remember, if you’re flying, you need to put it into checked luggage. It’s one of the best gifts I’ve ever had and comes in handy so often. https://www.leatherman.com/A microfiber hair towel will save your day. These from RainLeaf have little buttons on them so it’s easy to keep your hair wrapped up however long you need. They’re so absorbent that I’ve used it as a body towel as well on long hiking trips because they are lightweight and save space. https://www.rainleafonline.com/collections/towels/products/rainleaf-2-pack-hair-towel-wrap-hair-drying-towel-with-button-microfibre-hair-towel-dry-hair-hat-bath-hair-cap-flannel-fleece-velvet
